The grid is changing. SwitchDin's technology helps you ensure that every solar and battery system is ready for what's next.
When installed with compatible inverters, batteries and other devices, SwitchDin Edge Controllers, previously known as Droplets, unlock a suite of opportunities for system owners like virtual power plants, community batteries and more. They also enable advanced energy monitoring and analytics for system owners and installers alike.
This course covers the full installation process from end to end — identifying the Edge Controller and its ports, preparing before a site visit, mounting and powering the unit, getting it online, claiming it to a site in Stormcloud, and adding the devices it will monitor. It reflects the installation process in use from October 2026, and replaces the previous Droplet Basics and Horizon Power accreditation courses.
On passing the final assessment, you will be granted accredited installer status, which unlocks the Installer section in Stormcloud and allows you to commission SwitchDin Edge Controller units in the field.

Solar and battery storage system installers looking to install SwitchDin controllers for residential and commercial solar and battery storage systems.
Completing the course should take approximately 60 minutes, and can be done in separate sessions.
Accredited installer status is usually granted within one business day of passing the final assessment. The Installer section will then appear in the Stormcloud menu.
If you have passed and still cannot see it after one business day, contact our support team on +61 2 4786 0426 or at support@switchdin.com.
No. The course can be completed without hardware. However, several sections cover physical checks on the unit, so having a Droplet to hand will make them easier to follow.
